Leah Appleton (she/they)

Leah Appleton (she/they) is a West Philadelphia-based arts and culture sector specialist focused on amplifying the voices of marginalized individuals, especially members of the LGBTQIA* community. They are currently the Project Manager for Greenhouse Media (GhM). GhM regularly collaborates with non-profits large and small to create uniquely engaging media-based exhibitions, immersive installations, museum interactives, public artworks, documentary films, and more. Their most recent project, The Philadelphians, was in collaboration with Forman Arts Inititave, The Office of Immigrant Affairs, and Mural Arts. The film centering the experience, value, and legacy of immigrant families in Philadelphia was on display in Love Park until June 8, 2025.

Since 2009, Leah has been organizing and producing gender and sexuality focused programs

for museums, nightclubs, art galleries, theaters, and public spaces across the country. From Drag performances and dance parties to music and painting, Leah explores engaging communities by any means necessary. Most recently, she curated the photography exhibition Lesbian Lands for the Stonewall National Archive and Museum. She is also the curator of the touring exhibition At Home, which, through 13 international artists focuses on queer domesticity, intimacy, and family.

Leah has over ten years of experience working in non-profits. She has served as the Associate Director of the Pearlstein Gallery at Drexel University and Events Director for the Westphal Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council. Leah holds a BFA from Maine College of Art in Painting and an MS in Arts Administration from Drexel University.
